My name is Jutta Sohlman and I live in Salo, about 70 kms to Turku and 100 kms to Helsinki. My family includes in addition of myself one husband, three children, a couple of bichons frisés and - last but not least - two medium sized poodles.

I've had bichons since early 1990s. A girl who studied at the same college with me had two of them and I fell in love with this breed immediately when I realized how they actually are big dogs in a small body. Already in the beginning I knew I wanted to show my bichons and probably breed from them, so I wanted them to represent the best bloodlines available. My first bichon frisé bitch CH Leeward's Colleen McMurphy came into my life at the age of 2 years. She was a real personality and we had many unforgettable moments together.

In 2003 I purchased my new foundation bitch from Norway. INT&FIN&S&N&EST CH FINJW-03 W-03 Petit Ami's Starshine to Leaflet was a fabulous showdog and also a wonderful companion at home. "Myy" has then retired. Thanks to Myy's breeder Ms Wivi-Anne Olsen for this fine representative of the breed!

With poodles I'm just a beginner, but I really feel privileged getting to learn the breed from a true professional. I'll always be grateful to Ms Tiina Taulos (Canmoy's poodles) for not only letting me have these gorgeous representatives of the breed but also all of her efforts teaching me so much about them! Just feel sorry if I've caused you a grey hair or two... ;))

During the years I have made many friends (usually by the showring) in different countries. It is wonderful how these animals connect people who otherwise would never meet each other! I also have served in different positions in our Bichon Frisé Club and currently am a member of the board and the chairman of our breeding commitee. What once was called just a hobby has become a way of living which influences nearly everything in our everyday lives.

Right now I'm studying in Degree Programme of Business Information Technology in Turku University of Applied Sciences, but every now and then my "dog life" gets ahead of my studies in importance. I really have to thank my family for tolerating my dedication and helping me so much - I know it isn't always easy and pleasant!

As a breeder my goal is to produce sound and well-moving dogs with the correct temperament and good health. The health issues of the breed are very close to my heart, probably due to my previous profession as a nurse. I’m trying to keep it very small having only a few dogs at home at the same time. To me they are always pets at the first place. I want them to live in my house being members of the family, as you can see...

I always pick homes for the puppies very carefully. I want that every Leaflet's puppy gets a permanent home where he is loved and cared as a family member. I am always glad to hear from them later on and - of course - ready and willing to advise the owners should they need that. Many of my breedings come to me frequently for trimming. I do not prefer a show home over a good pet home, but I like to see some of my puppies in the showring as well.
