We had entered only our young first- and secondtimers in the annual Bichon Specialty and Kuopio International shows, which were held in the same place during the same weekend FAR away from our home... The journey was long and our car totally stuffed but luckily I had not only one but three handsome chauffeurs to travel with. :)

We skipped the first one of the shows due to bad weather but got the following results from the rest of the shows:

In Karjaa national all breeds show bichons were under Ms Karin Bergbom from Finland. Leaflet's La-Z-Boy was shown beautifully by his owner Johanna, he won his class and became 4th best male. I had also entered my poodle Canmoy's Primetime under Ms Tanya Ahlman-Stockmari from Finland. Irina did wonderfully by becoming BEST OF BREED with her 2nd CC handled by her breeder Ms Tiina Taulos. In the finals I handled her myself and our group judge, a well respected all-rounder Mr Harry Tast from Finland gave Irina 3rd PLACEMENT IN THE GROUP!

Irina's critic from our breed judge was something so fabulous that I want to share it with the rest of the world: "Jumalaisen kaunis narttu. Ideaali koko. Silmiinpistävän tehokkaat liikkeet. Ihastuttava hännänkanto. Upea ryhti." And the same translated... "A bitch of divine beauty. Ideal size. Strikingly efficient movement. Attractive tail carriage. Gorgeous carriage."

Big thank yous to both of the judges for appreciating our Irina, my husband Jarmo for all his efforts with the photographing and - once again - Tiina for everything.... :)

I also have to congratulate Ms Pia Helminen for her fabulous result with her bichon. Charmandelan Faust for Fun became 2nd in the group first time out in junior class! That's some way to go!!!

Together with my active puppy owners (thank you all!) we took 7 of my breedings to an eye examination and blood samples for the genetic research. We have a genetic research group in Finland trying to find out how hereditary cataracts is inherited in our breed. Also international help is valuable. If you are interested in hearing more, please contact me via e-mail or directly the head of the research group, prof. Hannes Lohi. We got the following results:

Leaflet's Easy Come Easy Go, eyes OK
Leaflet's Expert Teaser, eyes OK
(Petit Ami's Only The Lonely X Petit Ami's Starshine to Leaflet)

Leaflet's Semper Fidelis, eyes OK
Leaflet's Second to None, eyes OK
(Kynismar for Heaven's Sake X Leaflet's Midnite Special)

Leaflet's La-Z-Boy, patellas 0/0 eyes OK
Leaflet's Li'l Hi Li'l Lo, patellas 0/0 eyes OK
(Leaflet's Easy Come Easy Go X Leeward's Ringside Rose)

Leaflet's Love for Sale, eyes total HC
(Rusmar Deep Magic X Leeward's Lust for Love)

Luckily the only case of cataracts we had was with 13 year old "Sulo" who has never been used at stud.

Let me introduce our new family members, who are pictured below. Guess, who is the main reason for the updatings getting slower...

This is "Dimmu Borgir" (thanks to my teenager daughter Laura for the name) who came from Norway yesterday at the age of 9 weeks. Great big thanks to his breeder Ms Wivi-Anne Olsen (Petit Ami's bichons) for trusting another one of her gorgeous breedings in my hands! Thanks also to Dimmu's "Godmother" Ms Jaana Kauppinen (Jitterbop bichons) for bringing him over when coming back home with her brand new INT&N CH Jitterbop Pin Code after doing some winning in a Norwegian showring :)

Although all my 4-legged furry friends are dear for me, it is absolutely clear who is the most precious new puppy in the house... This is our little Emil, who was born on Valentine's day. His strategic measures were 4100 grams and 52,5 cms. You can imagine that he and his 2-year old big brother together with the dogs keep me busy!

This promising young lady is medium sized poodle Canmoy's Pas De Deux. "Tamara" is pictured at the age of 8 weeks. Thank you Ms Tiina Taulos (Canmoy's poodles) for letting me have another one of your top quality breedings!

Happy New Year 2008!

This year will bring us some new 2- and 4-legged family members and I'm sure that also many unforgettable happy events, please come back to share the news with us!
